System Operation
Drive position selection
- P (Park)
- R (Reverse)
- N (Neutral)
- D (Drive)
- L (Low)
The transmission provides the following drive positions:
Selector lever positions
In the P selector lever position, the output shaft is blocked at the housing by the park pawl.
If the selector lever is not in P position, the ignition key interlock switch sends a signal to the instrument cluster when exiting the vehicle. When the driver's door is opened, a message is displayed on the instrument cluster ('Move selector lever to P') and the warning buzzer sounds. In addition, it is not possible to lock the vehicle electrically.
- The vehicle can be driven in reverse.
- The reversing lamps are actuated.
In R position:
- The electric motor does not generate any torque.
In N position:
Selector Lever Cable Adjustment
NOTE: Refer to the service literature for the exact procedure and specifications.
An adjustment is required if the transmission or selector lever are removed, if the engine does not start in P or N or concerns arise with regard to the shift quality.
Adjustment of the selector cable is performed with the selector lever in position D.
Open the catch on the adjusting mechanism on the transmission end and hang out the selector lever cable.
The selector lever and the shift mechanism must be in position D. To do this, turn the lever clockwise until it reaches the stop (position L).
Then turn counter-clockwise until the first catch (position D).
Hang up the selector lever cable again and close the catch on the adjusting mechanism at the transmission end.
