Diagnosis and Testing Refer to Wiring Diagrams Section 307-01, for schematic and connector information. General Equipment diagnostic equipment Inspection and Verification Verify the customer concern. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage. Visual Inspection Mechanical Electrical Fluid level too high/low Poor condition of fluid Fluid leak Damaged shift mechanism/linkages Damaged automatic transmission/ transaxle casing Fuse(s) Relay(s) Wiring harness Electrical connector(s) Selector lever module Transmission control module (TCM) If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step If the cause is not visually evident, verify the symptom and refer to the Ford diagnostic equipment to diagnose the system.
